CARBON STEEL PLATES

Low Carbon Plate Steel is manufactured to three separate carbon ranges that relate to thickness and end use requirements. Plates 3/4″ and lighter are produced to the lowest carbon range (0.10-0.20) for maximum cold forming and welding properties. Sizes 3/4″-1 1/2″ the carbon range is (0.15-0.25) which gives improved machining, while retaining its forming and welding properties. Plates over 1 1/2″ have carbon increasing to (0.20-0.33), this is a killed steel that provides the best combination of strength, weldability, and structural soundness

Medium Carbon Plate Steel in the (.40-.50) carbon range is silicon killed and higher carbon for improved strength. Light and medium thicknesses can also be heat treated for greater strength. Machinability is good, but forming and welding properties are limited.

HETELLOY PLATES

The purpose of Injection quills is to introduce corrosive chemicals (medium to highly corrosive) into a pipeline without damaging the pipe wall or the side port at the exact point of injection. Chemical injection quills ensure that there is an even dispersion of chemicals into the pipeline's center, which avoids channeling down the pipe wall of the chemical. Both the stinger and the body are constructed of materials that are chemical resistant alloys or plastics (Kynar, 316 SS, Hastelloy C-276 or PVC). Each injection quill unit of Crystal Industrial comes in total with an integral removable ball check with spring loaded, to avoid flow of the injected chemical passing into the main flow when the system is shut down. In the past, chemical injection quills have been little more than a piece of tube extending into a pipe. This design is vulnerable to erosion-corrosion and cavitation in the piping due to vortex shedding and other hazards. Moreover, often these quills and the piping just downstream are not properly inspected. Due to which there have been numerous cases of damage to the piping just after these quills. Crystal's chemical Injection Quills have a tapered shape which reduces the effects of vortex shedding, thus vastly reducing the likelihood of erosion-corrosion, cavitation, and quill fatigue cracking. Each quill is custom designed for a specific application keeping in mind the vortex shedding, erosion, vibration, resonance and strength of the attachment to the pipe, according to ASME rules. SUPER DUPLEX PLATES

Duplex stainless steel plate contains relatively high levels of chromium (between 18% and 28%) and low to moderate amounts of nickel (between 1.5% and 8%). The high corrosion resistance and excellent mechanical properties of duplex stainless steels can be attributed to their chemical composition and balanced (duplex) microstructure of approximately equal volume percentages of ferrite and austenite. LDX 2101® is a low nickel, nitrogen-enhanced lean duplex stainless steel with corrosion resistance similar to 304 but with much higher mechanical strength. This enables it to be used in thinner cross-sections which provide cost savings to the end user. Alloys 2304 and 2205 are the most common grades. They both exhibit outstanding resistance to chloride stress-corrosion cracking. "Super" duplex grades have enhanced pitting and crevice corrosion resistance when compared with 300-series austenitic stainless steels or conventional duplex alloys. This can be attributed to the enhanced levels of chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen found in these materials. Alloy 2507 is the most common “super” duplex grade.
